The Opti-Wall on the Caledonian

Touchscreen used to select your location

CyberD have installed the country's first traffic information systems on board ships. The system is part of the Streetwise project (a Euro Regional project involving the national road authorities of England, Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland) and was installed with the help of the Scottish Execuvite.

The unit sails on Stena Line's Caledonia between Stranraer and Belfast in the "Truckers' Lounge". The information is streamed from the NADICS, TrafficNI and other government websites giving upto date congestion and road works details allowing drivers to make informed choices about their routes when they arrive on shore.

The Opti-Wall was choosen for its suitabilty on board ship, being fixed to a bulk head there is no risk of injury to users on rough seas and takes up little floor space in the lounge. The system is powered by leading infromation browser Cyt-Lox 2005 from CyberD.
