Wireless Wall Kiosks

CyberD UK installed three Opti-Wall kiosks running Simple Surf into the public areas of Purbeck District Council offices, Wareham, and one in the nearby leisure centre. All these kiosks are contected to a secured WiFi network.

The kiosks are being used to give Purbeck residents access to upto data local information provided by Purbeck DC and selected sites, view planning applications and make electronic payment of council bills.

Simple Surf with the ability to navigate to multiple restricted web locations (using RFS) and its high level of PC security provides a stable platform allowing the web designers freedom to create high content interactive web pages for use on public access machines.

The new kiosk network is contected to a secure WiFi installed and configured by CyberD. This network reduced the cost of installation by removing the need to run additional network cabling to areas of the building that previously had no network access. The WiFi access points are discretely positioned out of public view and the WiFi adpators for each PC are housed inside the Opti-Wall enclosures. All power distribution is also inside the the kiosk so only a mains power cable needed to be provided.

By using the Opti-Wall kiosk Purbeck DC were able to minimize the amount of floor space each kiosk uses whilst providing a stylish solution for access to public information and services.
