Banking On Kiosks

CyberD have supplied a range of high specification kiosks to Barclays Bank to provide access to online only services in branch and allow staff to assist customers learn about online banking.

The kiosk systems use Simple Surf 3 for the secure access to the internet and a hardened operating system, both of which have been penetration tested by an independent organisation and found to be suitable for secure public banking purposes. The hardware incorperates a motion sensing device turning off the screen saver (if running) as a customer approaches the system, an A4 laser printer for hard copies of statements and information, a rugged stainless steel keyboard and trackball and a 17" touch screen monitor.

CyberD were involved from concept providing our technical knowledge and industry sector experience to the client from the outset thus reducing possibility of unforeseen problems during the roll out. CyberD took on the logistics and commissioning of the project ensuring that all kiosks were delivered and installed correctly, this also involved liasing with the internet connectivity provider and other third parties such as structured cabling contractors. As part of the maintenance contract CyberD run a proactive monitoring system alerting the appropriate engineer and client representative should connectivity or power issues be experienced. By using an industry standard remote administration package with a high level of security CyberD is able to access the kiosk's telecoms equipment and PC for rapid off-site maintenance and fault diagnosis with minimum disruption to the branch staff or customer experience. We also manage the on-site maintenance of the kiosk network.

The hardware chosen by Barclays includes the Eagle Free Standing kiosk, purpose made Multi-Line free standing kiosks and a Tri-Line delux desk system which was installed in their flagship brach at London, Piccadilly Circus.
