Services, Support and Systems from CyberD

The hardware consists of a touch screen, keyboard, trackball and PC. The software is CyberD's Simple Surf 2 and Watchdog 2 providing a complete web browsing solution coupled with enhanced security, uptime guarantee and power saving system. CyberD have also provided a complete remote and onsite support package, web hosting of the kiosk portal and design of the portal interface.

Secure and Fast with Simple Surf 2

The kiosk has been installed with CyberD's Simple Surf 2 Basic Edition which provides complete interface security, website filtering, file type filtering and a recognisable user interface. The kiosk environment is continually monitored by CyberD's Watch Dog 2 application monitor which launches the user interface and maintains uptime by detecting "hung" processes and restarting them.

Simple Surf's keyboard and web security systems has allowed the use of standard keyboards and mice; these features also prevent users from accessing the underlying operating system or other devices on the network without detriment to the user experience.

CyberD Power Management

Watch Dog 2 makes kiosk power management easy, the kiosk is configured to only run on allowed days and between assigned times. The kiosk automatically switches on shortly before the branch opens allowing the systems to carry house keeping and updates; it then automatically shuts down shortly after the branch close, this means that there is no physical intervention with the kiosks by staff. This completely unattended and automated power management reduces operating costs, the units' carbon foot prints and reduces the risk of hardware failure and downtime.
