Curtains
is a small application allowing administrators to credit control use
of a PC via the PcCredit Interface Board. Curtains draws a curtain over the windows
desktop whilst the user is not in credit. When the user is in credit
the curtain lifts and a small digital clock is displayed in the top
right hand corner of the desktop. Curtains does not include any PC security
when the curtain is lifted, this is the responsibility of the system
administrator. When the curtain is drawn the keyboard is not active
and users cannot access key combinations such as ALT+TAB, ALT+ESC or
CTRL+ALT+DEL.
The curtain
can be a plain coloured sheet, a bitmap image or a HTML web page. Bitmap
images can be bmp, gif or jpg format and, as with the normal desktop,
they can be stretched to fill the screen, tiled accross the screen or
centrally. HTML web pages can contain any plugins currently installed
on the PC, however it is recommended that you use plugins that do not
allow the opening of new instances of Internet Explorer or Netscape
Navigater. Web pages may contain links, but again it is recommended
that these do not link to web pages or sites external to the PC's hard
drive or network domain. Whilst a web page is being displayed the user
cannot access the right mouse click, or shortcuts such as CTRL-N, CTRL-O
etc.
