Are Tracks?
Tracks are the physically encoded data on the magnetic strip. The strip has three regions that can be encoded, each has its own characteristics and data formats. The three tracks are used to store different types and quantities of data, the most commonly used track is track two, this hold numeric data only. Alphanumeric data can only be stored on track one.
